The Air is sufficient for basic video editing operations, especially when its processor, RAM, and storage are all at their maximum capacities. The entry-level MacBook Pro, which you may as well think of as the standard MacBook Pro, might be yours if you pay the M1 MacBook Air extra to update.

Adobe today announced that it has updated its popular video editing application Premiere Pro to natively support the M1 chips-powered Macs, including the base 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, 24″ iMac, and the M1 chips-powered Mac mini. The update comes after the company announced that the company has updated the M1 chips-powered Macs, including the base 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Air. Adobe Premiere Pro Video Editing Software for Macs powered by M1 is available in public beta.

With Adobe on Macbook Pro, you can get Adobe Inc.s entire creative suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, plus Acrobat Pro. For three years, you get the latest Adobe Acrobat Pro DC software, which never fails to satisfy your needs, and also the Adobe Document Cloud services, which let you create and share corporate documents. With this three-year subscription, you get access to Acrobat software that is always up-to-date, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud services, which you can use to prepare and share business documents. Adobe Creative Cloud apps like Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign are all capable of running smoothly on the silicon M1 chip.

MacBook Airs are so powerful now, that you can use it to do Adobe Illustrator work with ease, on the professional level. All MacBook Air models can run Adobe Illustrator, however, 2020 or newer MacBook Air models will do better because of their higher-power M1 CPU chips.

The MacBook Air is an excellent general-purpose computer, however, may lack enough horsepower for heavier applications such as Adobe Illustrator. Keep in mind Adobe Illustrator is a resource-intensive program, so Adobe Illustrator might not work as smoothly on your MacBook Air as it will on a more powerful computer. The MacBook Air can handle applications such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, but MacBook Airs are not going to run nearly as smoothly as MacBook Pros. If you own the MacBook Air and you are looking to run Adobe Illustrator, then you can rest easy knowing that the device is capable of handling Adobe Illustrator.

Sure, spending lots of time with heavier applications like Adobe Photoshop will make it feel like Illustrator, but it is usable. It is a recommended minimum for applications like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.

Adobe Reader is a cross-platform app, meaning that PDF files look identical on Windows and Mac, and also allows searching PDF files. For Mac users to be able to view this content, they need to tell their computers to open the PDF files using either Adobe Reader, or Adobe Acrobat Standard, or Adobe Acrobat Professional. A quiet, yet existent arms race surfaces every time a user has to open and work with a PDF on a Mac, and a longstanding recommendation from both Mac and Windows users is to download and install Adobes Acrobat Reader.

The program will check for a newer version whenever you launch either Acrobat or Adobe Reader as an app, and prompt you to install a newer version when one is available. Adobes Acrobat Updater is not required for booting, but since there are frequent security updates to Adobe programs, it is smart to leave this enabled, so that you are alerted when there is a new update available. The latest updates can be downloaded and installed by clicking the Updater window.

IT administrators can manage the updates settings using Adobes Customization Wizard or Windows Registry. Most Adobe applications, like Acrobat, have updat settings set to preferred. Adobe Reader does not offer any user interface options within the preferences for controlling this option. Sometimes, even if you have set Adobe Acrobat DC to default, PDFs you download will open in Chrome instead.

While the Apple Preview app does not currently open.webp graphics file format (nor does Adobes Acrobat Reader), you can get around this problem by removing the file extension webp from your filename, and changing it to jpg, gif, or any other file format that works better for you. After shipping native versions of Lightroom and Camera Raw, Adobe is now shipping a version of Photoshop optimized for Apple silicon that offers a significant performance boost over the Intel version running Photoshops software-emulation layer, Rosetta 2. Adobe shipped the Apple Silicon version of Lightroom back in December, then followed it in March with the native release of Photoshop. Adobe released its first Lightroom Classic edition on Tuesday, tailored to the new M1 CPU-powered Macs, which is a welcome development for photographers looking to make the most out of Apples power-efficient hardware. Adobe has been moving fast to upgrade its imaging software to run natively on Apples new internal CPUs for the Mac, starting with M1-based MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs released late last year.

After months of beta testing, Adobe Photoshop is now running natively on Apple devices running Apples new M1 chip, which is powered by ARM. With new test results, Adobe has also announced (open in new tab) that Illustrator and InDesign will now work natively on M1 Macs, joining Photoshop, XD, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Lightroom Classic.

In addition to the Silicon Editions of Apples Imaging Software, Adobe is also rolling out the new Super Resolution functionality to Camera Raw (to be released later to Lightroom) plugins shipped with the software. Adobes Super Resolution tech is available in all versions of Lightroom, but it gets a special boost on the M1 Macs, as Adobe is tapping into AI-accelerated neural engine circuitry Apple has built into the Apple CPUs.

Adobe Photoshop will work on those devices, though you may find that some of the more GPU-heavy features are limited if you are a professional user. You may find a desktop model (iMac or Mac Pro) is more suitable. If you know that you are going to use heavy apps such as this regularly, then upgrading to MacBook Pro may be worthwhile. While MacBook Air can run Adobe Premiere Pro, 1.5GB of GPU memory does not fit into a minimum requirement, and it might not be enough, particularly if you plan on working in 4K.
