While using an AirTag, there might come a time when it would stop working or the device would ask you to move around more. This happens mostly because you’re outside of the AirTag’s bluetooth range, and should move around to get in its vicinity to make your AirTag work.

The first thing you should do when you receive the notification is search for your physical AirTag. Once connected, give it a name as per your use case, and connect AirTags to things that you would like to monitor. Simply place an AirTag next to an iPhone and tap on the Connect button which appears on screen. If you have more than one AirTag, and you see More than one AirTag detected, make sure that only one AirTag is near your device at a time.
If your connecting process is interrupted by a message that says that your Apple AirTag is connected to a different Apple ID, you may need to unlink it from your previous Apple ID. Your AirTag will make a sound to indicate that your Bluetooth connection is enabled on the location of your AirTag, and it is within range. After pairing, AirTag saves your Apple ID to AirTag storage, so that you can locate it using the Find My App. If the Tracker detects app finds an undiscovered AirTag nearby you for at least 10 minutes, it will be able to make a sound to help find it.
If you have an Android phone, you can also use the Tracker Detect app to look for unknown AirTags moving around with you. If you see the AirTag Found Moving With You message appear on your iOS device, you can just dismiss it like normal, or, ideally, turn off unknown AirTags entirely. If you are convinced that a tag is still with you, search your items to try and locate it, or wait to see if you get another alert when moving from one place to another throughout the day.
An AirTag that is unreachable may be minor, however, it could be a major drain on your time trying to locate the device. You cannot see how much battery is left on an AirTag, but your iPhone will alert you both when it is getting low and show you its state on the Find Me App. You can check your AirTag battery levels with either an iPad or an iPhone, so that your AirTags battery does not run out before you know it. Once you have located your AirTag device, you will need to swap out your batteries.
You could try rebooting your iPhone, checking AirTags battery status, unplugging and reconnecting the AirTag, resetting your AirTag hard, or asking for a replacement if the AirTag is defective.
