Apple Shutting Down Iphone 7
The iPhone 7 has been introduced in 2017 and it will be shut down between 2021 to 2023. It will be officially supported until the release of the iPhone 16. After that apple will stop signing in to IOS 15.6.1 within the month of its release.
Apple continues to improve its software through bug fixes and patches, but the companys latest iOS 15 update is causing problems for some iPhone 7 users. The update, iOS 12.5.4, addresses a security problem on older versions of iPhones, keeping your phone safe from cybercriminals. Apple has recently released a hotfix update to older iPhone models due to security concerns.
In fact, Apple ended support for iPhone 6s with the release of iOS 13 two years ago. It seems that, in order to prevent any potential confusion, Apple simply dropped support entirely for both models, rather than supporting one but not the other. Apple is yet to make its decision, and that will depend heavily on iPhone SE. Apple has not changed support on devices in years, so it should come as no surprise.

Recently, speculation has been swirling around that Apple may look at discontinuing older versions of the iPhone, following on from its latest models. Apple is facing a backlash from users after announcing iOS 16, its next major version of iOS, set for a release this Fall, would be unsupported on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Many users are expressing their disappointment with Apple dropping the iPhone 7 series from Apples list of supported devices for iOS 16 update. Apple discontinued the iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus in 2020, and is now considering discontinuing two remaining models of iPhone 11. The iPhone 7 will still be usable, but you will not get to enjoy the latest features which are coming with the installation of a new iOS. It originally came with iOS 10, but has enjoyed a few updates made available after it was released.
As reported by MacRumors back in May, it is entirely possible that because of the higher storage in the iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone 7 Plus will keep support for iOS 16, whereas the iPhone 7 will be missing it. IOS 15, likely coming out in the year 2021, could have been the last iOS update that the iPhone 7 enjoyed. Soon, there would be other updates, including iOS 14, which the iPhone 7 could manage.
With the update to iOS 11, you can go into Settings > General > Shut Down, and power down the iPhone via the OS. With the iPhone X, the side button reserved for controlling device power now brings up Siri, so you have a bit more work to turn your phone off. If the power does not work, try resetting the iPhone by holding down both the Home button and Sleep/Wake button.
