If apps stop updating on your phone, you will be missing out on new features and security patches. The only way to keep the different stock apps updated is by updating your system software.
While updating the different apps manually may be an annoying task, nowadays, most devices come with an option of updating apps automatically. Apple has also introduced auto-updating apps in iOS more than three years back, where simply by selecting the “Update All” option, one can skip updating apps manually. Keep in mind, if you see a white background behind the toggle switch, that means iOS Installed Updates is turned off. To configure this, tap on the automatic updates option (located below on the same screen as Step 3), and turn the switch next to Download iOS updates and Install iOS updates on. After this, you need to swipe down until you find and click the App Store tab. To finish the process, you need to toggle the switch for App Updates, located in the Automatic downloads section. This does not always work, but most of the time sending a date in the future, and then setting it again, will make the Updates section update. The automatic updates custom settings can be found by opening the Settings app, selecting the General section, tapping on Software Update, then selecting the option for Automatic updates custom. App Store Auto-updates can be enabled or disabled on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The screen will show you three options here.
