Downloads Disappeared From Dock

If your downloads have disappeared from your dock, there are a few possible explanations. Perhaps you have hidden the dock or turned off icon previews which can be turned back on. Or, it’s possible that you have mistakenly deleted the downloads folder from your dock.

This article will explain how to bring back Downloads icons to both your dock and your finders sidebar. Regardless of why your Downloads icon disappeared, getting your deleted downloads icon back in the Dock on a Mac is the same method described above. Resetting would reset the Macs dock back to the default settings, which will have the Downloads icon automatically present.

Of course, the alternative is to reset the Dock on the Mac back to the default icon set, which also includes the user downloads folder, but that would also delete all of the other dock configurations you made, including any app layouts, making this less ideal for most users, and actually a better step to take when you are dealing with an issue.
