How Do You Leave A Group On Messenger
To leave a group on Facebook Messenger, Open the Messenger app on your device. Go to the group conversation that you want to leave. Tap on the group name at the top of the screen. Scroll down and tap on “Leave Group.”Confirm your choice by tapping “Leave” in the pop-up window.
When you exit a group chat on Messenger, you will notice the chat disappears entirely from your conversations list. Once you leave a group chat on Facebook Messenger, this action removes the group from your Messengers main list of chats, and you cannot find it again.

Blocking does not mean that you are leaving the Messenger group chat, it only means you are not getting notifications from the group, and nobody from the group can message you. Other members will not get notifications when you block the group, but you need to keep in mind that they may be able to see which messages you open. You will not get notifications when other members of a group send messages, and the groups icon will disappear from your Recent Conversations.
If you are leaving the group just because you are annoyed with notifications, but really want to stay in the group, you can turn notifications off instead. Once you have left the group, it is not secret, and notifications such as a message will pop up in the chat telling its members you left the group. You cannot find it on your chats list, will not receive any notifications, and have no way of joining it except by getting invited by a group admin.

If the channel has been linked with a group, then all members can have a threaded conversation beneath each message. You can leave a group text message if three others are in the thread, and they are all using an Apple device, such as iPhone or iPad. If some people on a group chat are using Android phones or different apps instead of Messages on iOS, you will be on the standard group message, and there is no way to leave a group text via Messages.
In Messenger apps on Android/iOS, you just need to long-press the conversation > select “Ignore Group”. Keep in mind, you can also use two more options here, should you wish not to really delete a conversation. If you do not want unused group chats on your account, you can leave the conversation forever.

Another loophole that you can use to exit a group conversation on Messenger without the other people in the chat being aware is to archive the chat. If you are not engaged in the Messenger group, or you want to leave for whatever reason, but you do not want to appear rude, you can leave a Messenger group in secret without anyone knowing. There is currently no way in Messenger to let you secretly do this leaving, as Messenger likes for people to know when anyone in the group has left.
Even if someone has added yourself to a group in Messenger by mistake, you can leave within seconds. Strange, but true, when the same group that you left earlier adds you again, then everything, your messages, shared media, photos, videos, and so on, comes back. Interestingly, if you are added again by the same group that you left, then you will be able to see all of your prior messages in the group.
While previously, Facebook allowed you to read past messages in the group, even after leaving, the Facebook Messenger app update now blocks this. People who are removed from the chat will be able to see previous chat history, but they will not be able to send new messages, respond to messages, and they will not be able to see any new conversations or files shared from the group. Although Facebook Messenger does not send out a notification to the members of a group, the active members will be aware you left an ignored group chat as soon as they open up group conversations.
If you shared anything on the group chat on Messenger, it will still be available for remaining members to see, even if you have left the chat. If you really want to find out whether or not the group chat has been permanently deleted from Messenger, you can search it manually by typing in the group chats name into the search bar. Tap on Delete to confirm, and your group chat, or single chat conversations, will be permanently deleted from Messenger.
You can delete from a group chat on Facebook Messenger by clicking/taping on Leave in any conversations options menu. Group conversations on Facebook Messenger can get annoying, courtesy of chat heads popping up whenever there is a new message. You can use a third way to hide group notifications, and make sure that the chat does not end up stuck in your inbox, but rather leaves.
You can also hide and unlock chats, start and join other groups, while inviting friends into your group as well. Just open this group, tap the groups name or the groups icon, and from the menu, head to See Group members. The first thing that you have to remember is that you have to be the administrator for this specific chat group you want to remove.
Be careful about what you type in once someone has left the group, as they may be able to read everything, should they be added back. You will not receive notifications of anyone responding to your post, since you are not there in the groups conversation anymore. Messenger allows you to create groups, and those groups can then get bombarded with messages and memes that are not all that funny.
Why is group messaging not in my settings?
Tap the menu key or icon (located on the bottom of the phone) from the main screen of your messaging app, then select Settings. Group Messaging could be found in the SMS or MMS menus if it isn’t in the first menu. It is located in the MMS menu in the sample below. Enable MMS under Group Messaging.

You will not receive messages from the chat and the other participants will be informed that you have gone. Remember that while you may quit one-on-one talks, you cannot exit group conversations. You can unfriend or block someone to stop them from initiating a conversation thread with you.
