How To Change iMessage Avatar?

Open the messages app in your iPhone and start a new conversation (you can also go to an existing conversation). There’d be a Memoji button present there which is responsible for your iMessage avatar – swipe right and tap on New Memoji. From there, select your new avatar or customize it to your liking.

Tap on the Use and you should then be taken to a screen where you can change your name. To edit your profile image, tap on the image with the word Edit over your name.

Tap on any of the photos, sets of initials, Memojis, or icons on screen to choose one of your photos, or tap on the camera, photos, smiley faces, or pencil icons to take a new picture or select one from the Camera Roll, select an emoji, or edit your initials. You can also tap on the Camera button to take a picture, then use that photo as a profile picture. You can click on Photo icon to select picture from photo library.

To set a photo from an album as the image for an imessage, click the pictures icon. In the “Use This Photo Everywhere” pop-up, you can choose Use to use the same picture everywhere, or Not Now if you only want to use it in iMessage.

For example, if you are being sent messages by any anonymous contact, whereas you only have selected contacts, then the person cannot see your display name and profile picture. Your Name is what the contacts will see when you send them messages, so be sure to choose something most people will be familiar with, and that they are not going to take great offense (unless that is your purpose, of course). Type how you would like your name to look, and toggle if you would like for your contacts to get that profile information automatically, or if you would like it to prompt them each time you add a new contact.

The next time you message someone, they will be asked to use your profile picture and name, if they have not done so already. The next time you message someone using iMessage, they may update their local contact information to see your new picture and details. Using your iMessage profile, chat recipients can easily update their local contact information with your new photo and first/last name.

Your newly selected name and profile picture are the ones people will see when they interact with you on iMessage. Let people see who you are by selecting your name and profile picture for use in iMessage – you can even use a Memoji.
