How To Delete Imessages On Mac
Choose a chat in your Mac’s Messages programme. In the transcript, choose one or more messages (such as text messages, images, videos, files, web links, audio messages, or emoji), tap Delete, and then click Delete in the dialogue box. You must manually delete every message if you want to entirely wipe your iMessage history.

The process is still mostly manual, and it is really easy to forget about deleting a particular message when you may get bombarded by more of them constantly. Note that if you are using Messages in iCloud and delete the conversation on your Mac, you are deleting it on any connected devices that have Messages in iCloud enabled. If you leave Messages in iCloud turned on, then messages that you deleted are deleted from all devices that are synchronized to your AppleID. When you are using iMessage on Macs connected to iCloud, iMessage will remove messages from all devices connected to the same AppleID. Once a message is deleted, it is deleted from all of your iOS devices (assuming you are signed in with an Apple ID), including the iPhone.

Once you enable the iCloud function, deleting a message, or part of a message, from a Mac will also remove it from other devices where the iCloud function is enabled and where you use a single Apple ID for login. If you enabled iCloud Sync in the preferences for your IMessages, deleting a message or a conversation on your Mac will also remove it from the server. Keep in mind that if you remove something from the Messages app on your Mac, it will be removed from your iPhone, iPad, or any other device using the same iCloud account. Unfortunately, you will still need to go through your old messages on the Mac and remove them, since changing Enabled does not affect messages that are already stored on the Macbook Pro.

Unfortunately, that does not fix the issue of older messages already saved with the old settings. If you are looking to remove all older messages, please read the tutorial until the very end. In some apps, you can delete individual messages as well, although usually, these are deleted on your end, but recipients still see them. You can also delete conversations by tapping File when you start the Messages app, then selecting Delete conversation.

Sometimes, you may have a rapid-fire, private conversation with several people simultaneously, and want to periodically clear out all of your messages thus far, but keep the conversation going. You can remove individual messages, mass messages, attachments, or even whole conversations. Now, you can do anything with more than one message, such as delete more than one message in the iMessages in the Mac. Once you have cleared your Macs Messages app of unneeded messages, you can set it to auto-delete, so that you will not need to repeat those processes.
The options are a bit limited, but it is possible to configure messages to delete after one year, after 30 days, or keep forever. This can be a blessing and a curse, since it is great for times when you accidentally remove messages from one device, but it is less great when you are trying to remove messages completely.
