How To Know If Your Macbook Is Charging
If your MacBook is plugged in and charging, there is no indication on the laptop except for the plugin icon on the menu bar. But if yur Macbook has a magnetic charging cable then there will be a light at the end of the cable which will indicate that the cable is charging the Macbook.
Modern USB-C-powered MacBooks lack charging indicators on their charging cables, as any USB-C cable works. If the charging cable is connected correctly, but the MacBook Pro is not charging, then the power adapter, or the cable itself, may be defective and needs replacing. If your MacBook was made prior to 2016 and has a magnetic charging cable (even an old L-shaped one), then your MacBook will have a light at the end of the cable that indicates that it is charging. Older MacBook Pros (made before 2016) used that same magnetic charging cable, which also has an indicator light.
Modern MacBooks (made in 2016 or later) use the standard USB-C charging cable. In the newest MacBooks, which have USB-C charging ports, the battery charging terminals and data communications lines are no longer located on the same connector. A USB Type-C charger does not have an indicator light, which means that if you are MacBook is not turning on, you might not know whether your battery is to blame, or whether the cord is simply broken.
If the flat battery is causing the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro not to turn on, most Macs will power up automatically when you plug in your working charger. Unlike the other MacBooks, these models of Macbook will not normally turn on without the working battery connected, even when you plug in the working charger. Even if your MacBook does not turn on, it should still have the lights turned on, as long as the issue is not the battery.
If your chargers light does not come on, the cause of the MacBooks failure to turn on or charge may be the defective plug. If you try charging your battery, but nothing happens, then the battery in your MacBook may be bad and cannot charge at all. With the MacBook Air connected to the wall socket, check for a status light (available on some Macs) that indicates the power supply is connected. Use the right power adapter for the MacBook model to recharge the Mac for around 5 minutes. An overnight charge does not harm MacBook Air, but if you are typically using it with a plugged-in power cable, MacBooks battery might have lost its ability to stay charged for as long as it needs to. Your MacBook will learn the habit, and it will delay charging the battery past 80 percent until the final hours of the morning, so the battery cells will spend less time at 100 percent.
