How To Ping Apple Watch
Lost your apple watch? Can find it easily using the Find My app on your iPhone. Open the “Find My” app. Click on the devices. Find and tap your apple watch from the devices. Click on play sound. Your apple watch will automatically start pining whether it is in your pocket or under the couch.
If you lose your Apple Watch, heres how to pin it so it is found again using your iPhone. Whenever you cannot locate your iPhone, you can use the “ping” function on the Apple Watch to make a tone sound at it. If you are trying to locate your iPhone lost at home, or the iPhone is turned on, has Airplane Mode turned off, and is within Bluetooth range of your Apple Watch, you can use the Ping My Phone feature. Once you have clicked on that button, your iPhone will begin ringing, thus telling you your iPhone. The iPhone must be within range of your Apple Watchs Bluetooth range in order to have the ping function.
Tap the ping button and your iPhone will make a short pinging noise to help locate it, your iPhone will make this sound even when in Silent Mode. Now, tap on your tiny-ringed iPhone icon, and it will ping your iPhone; meaning, your iPhone will make a sound, and you will easily find your iPhone. Pinging the iPhone will cause your phone to vibrate loudly, so you can follow the sound to locate your phone.
The “Ping” button, found in Apple Watchs control center, will cause your iPhone to ring and blink, which allows you to find your iPhone faster. Once you tap on the Ping button in watchOS Control Center, iPhones begin ringing, allowing you to find your device immediately. If all you see is the Wi-Fi icon from watchOS Control Center, then you should be able to use the Find Devices app to ping iPhone (assuming that iPhone is connected to the Internet through Wi-Fi or Cellular data). Your iPhone and watch need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to ping each other.
When Airplane Mode is turned on, your devices cannot connect to wireless networks, meaning that you might not be able to use your Apple Watch to ping your iPhone. If Airplane mode is turned on an iPhone, your WiFi connection is dropped, meaning that both devices cannot connect. If Airplane mode is active on your iPhone, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up Control Center, then tap on the Airplane mode icon to turn off Airplane Mode. To reboot the iPhone, simply hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Power Off Slider appears.
If that pesky buzzing continues, use the Volume Down button to completely lower the volume. When Do Not Disturb is turned on, all sounds on the iPhone are muted, including short bursts. The system is designed to allow you to hear a short, even when the iPhone is in a different room, or when your iPhone is turned off. Wherever the iPhone is, you can listen for a strong audio signal at a distance.
The Find My app helps track down all your Apple devices, so you need to turn this on both Apple Watch and iPhone in order for it to make the PING sound. The ping only works if you previously enabled Find My on the paired iPhone. The given method is also performed using the Find My app on an iPhone or iPad.
Find My can be accessed either on the iPhone using the Find My app (also available for the iPad and Mac) or directly on the iCloud web site. You can check whether Find My is enabled or not by going into your iPhones Settings > Your Name at the Top > Find My > Find My iPhone.
When you tap on your iPhone button, then your iPhone will just begin ringing to inform you of the iPhones location. If you see the green iPhone icon in watchOS control center, that means that your Apple Watch is connected to the iPhone and is capable of sending it a ping. How far you can ping is equal to how long you have had the iPhone and Wearable connected, which is perceived through the Find My App.
Note, if you do not see the green indicator appear while performing the steps described above, then your iPhone is too far away (perhaps you have forgotten it in your office or elsewhere you are been), the iPhones ping function will not work. If you meet just the third point, which is the devices are too far away, outside of Bluetooth range, or have Bluetooth turned off, tapping on the ping icon might not trigger any audio to play back to your iPhone. The Ping feature means that you can find the iPhone with your Apple Watch with ease, so it can be extremely frustrating if the feature does not work.
Since the Ping function is built into the Find My app, you will need to update your Find My app in order to fix the issue. You may also want to take advantage of iPhones Ping function, which allows users to locate a missing iPhone in no time using an Apple Watch. If you are trying to ping another persons iPhone, then you need to use another method, like the Find My Friends app. If you cannot seem to locate an iPhone, no need to panic; simply ping the iPhone.
If your iPhone is not powered, it is not possible to ping your iPhone from any location using any method. If finding your missing iPhone takes longer than a single ping, tap the button again to keep pinging the phone.
If your watch is not visible beneath your connected devices, you cannot ping it. Instead of digging a phone out under the stacks of things in the house, you can just ping it from the watch.
Pinging is useful anytime you have misplaced the watch, or have left it in somewhere such as in the closet, under a desk, or on your pillow, and cannot recall its position. Pinging means alert with audio, many are unaware of this Iphone feature that makes an audio on Apple Watch every time users click the Watch App.
Make sure that both Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled on the iPhone and that both devices are close to each other. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will make sure you can pin the device, or appropriately use the Find My Service.
