How To Turn Off Screenshot Sound

Flip the silent switch on your iPhone to turn off the screenshot and camera sounds. Simply turning the volume down on the iPhone or turning silent mode on is the fastest and easiest way to capture a screenshot without sound. You can disable sound on your iPhone if you do not want others to know you have taken a screenshot. It is not difficult to disable the sound that plays when you snap a photo using your camera, or take a screenshot with your iPhone. If you are using your laptop that is laying in your office, or do not want to disturb others sleeping around you, you might want to disable your screenshot sounds.

Interestingly, if you are recording your screenshots with a mic turned on, your screenshots and the camera sounds will both be muted to some degree. Any photo or screenshot that you capture with your iPhone will have a very weak sound of a shutter when screen recording. Now, when you tap a photo or capture a screenshot while it is silent/vibrant, the iPhone does not play a shutter sound.

If you do not want to turn your iPhone into Silent Mode, but you still want to disable the camera shutter sound, you can opt instead for Live Photos – photos that are one-second mini videos that have sound. Personally, I prefer using the hardware Ring/Silent Switch to disable the distracting systems sounds, including the shutter noise, but using Live Photos and turning the systems volume down manually are both equally viable ways to snap photos with no camera noise. You will have to use either the physical volume buttons, or a Bell icon (in Control Center), or a Volume Slider to turn off camera audio on an IPAD device (running iOS 12 or higher).

When you want to take a photo or take a screenshot without audio, hit the Volume Down button to turn down your buzzer volume to its lowest.
