An ultraportable Windows notebook suited for mild to moderately demanding workloads is the ENVY x360. The MacBook Pro 16 is a mobile workstation running macOS with a more stronger GPU for demanding tasks like video editing. Although the MacBook Pro 16 is virtually always better, it is also significantly more expensive.

CRNs test center pitted Apples M1-powered MacBook Air against HPs latest Envy 13, which offers an 11th-generation Intel Core CPU and 4K display options. While HPs use of Intel Core processors in the Envy 13 provides stronger performance, the M1 chip does provide Apples M1-powered MacBook Air a speed edge – for CPU as well as for GPU/graphics performance. Of course, the HP Spectre x360 13.5 also comes with Intels latest CPU, which brings some major performance improvements from its predecessor.

The HP Spectre x360 gets a refreshed design, lots of smart features on the inside, and plenty of performance upgrades. Both new laptops, HP Spectre x360 are now available to order through the HP website, selected HP World stores, Croma, and Reliance stores. The HP Spectre x360, HPs flagship laptop, is now taking on the newly launched MacBook Air and Apples MacBook Pro, which feature M2 chips.

Since we did not test the HP Spectre x360 13.5-inch, we cannot make any definitive judgments about its performance against Apples MacBook Pro. Also, the HP Spectre x360 13.5 has a more visually distinct design, as well as arguably a better webcam than either of those laptops.

HPs Envy x360 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop, which really gives it the edge over my current MacBook Air M1 on features. If I wanted a more portable and flexible laptop, such as HPs 2-in-1 Envy x360, I would go for a more portable one, even if it is not as capable as my MacBook Air M1. The HP Spectre x360 13.5 does not have many ports, but it does give you two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-A port, headphone jack, and a microSD card reader.

Watch to know about the difference between MacBook Pro M1 and HP Envy x360

As far as storage goes, both these laptops can push up to 2TB, but the HP Spectre x360 13-5 has a 512GB SSD in its base configuration, giving it a leg up on the base MacBook Air model. The MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 64GB RAM and 8TB of storage, which vastly overpowers the Spectre x360, which can go as high as 32GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 2TB of PCle. The MacBook Pro can be configured either with M1 Pro or M1 Max chipsets, which are Apples proprietary solutions.

The HP Envy x360 versus MacBook Air M1 are both excellent laptops, so you cannot go wrong with any of them. Let us talk about in details which laptop (HP Envy x360 and MBA M1) has more features and is better at portability, durability, battery life, display, performance, innovation, and design. The major differences between the HP Envy x360 and the MacBook Air M1 are: The HP Envy x360 is cheaper than the MacBook Air M1 but it also has lower battery life and lower storage for files and apps on it.

No doubt, the HP Envy x360 is a nice laptop too, but if you own a MacBook Air M1 then I would recommend that you should not swap it out with an HP Envy X360. I would recommend the HP Envy for anybody looking for a laptop which is not overpriced and does not come with any issues. I have been using this laptop for around a month and am really happy with it.

If you are looking for a video editing laptop, HP Envy 13 should not be the first choice, but I can tell you that it has that ability. If you want a multitasking laptop that can do a bit of everything, yet still remain affordable and small, then I would recommend this Envy 13. For those that are not comfortable with the idea of the laptops in the two above, have a look at these slim, lightweight laptops.

If you do not like any of these laptops, or want something better or similar for a similar price, have a look at these laptops. Since we do not know the highest price, we cannot tell you just how much this laptop will cost, although we expect that overall, the MacBook Pro will be pricier. The performance on this review unit is indeed higher than the other higher-end Windows laptops, and it is worth pointing out that this Macbook Air is priced lower in the range than these Windows laptops. Since we cannot specifically compare performance of Spectre, we cannot tell you the MacBook Pro is certainly more powerful, however, our review notes both chipsets performed very well.

Also, because we were unable to thoroughly review the Spectre x360, this will simply be a preliminary comparison, based on our short time with HPs new one, and long time experience using the MacBook Pro. There is one really big change that supports our view of the M1 MacBook being a better pick, and that is that this review unit finally gets the same wide-color P3 gamut that the Pro has, making for a great screen, though limited to 400nits brightness. Speaking of its display, it is built-in microphone is also quite good, at least compared with Windows-based laptops from other companies. You are bound to get a good sounding experience from one or the other, but Apple has generally had some of the best speakers in any laptop, so the MacBook Air could take a victory lap in this department, provided it stays the course with the MacBook Air.

The 64GB iPad Air is also compatible with a variety of accessories for iPad Air, allowing it to transform into a temporary laptop using additions such as Apples Magic Keyboard. That is not the only configuration on offer, either, as you can also choose the slightly more affordable HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop, which comes with a 15.6-inch, FHD touch screen, AMD Ryzen 5 5625U 6-core CPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD storage, support for Wi-Fi-6, and best of all, you will get a free HP Stylus Pen in the box when you buy. I like HPs Envy laptop lineup because it strikes the balance between price, performance, and portability.
