iOS 15 Carplay Custom Wallpaper

iPhone has its own built-in car play wallpapers. You can use them to decorate your home screens and lock screens in incredible visuals and colors infused in various shapes. You can also customize these wallpapers (in iOS 15) to your liking by going to the settings, then the built in controls, select wallpaper, and choose from the available options.

You can now download the new CarPlay wallpapers which are included in iOS 15 to any device that you might own that has iOS 15 at a fully HD resolution. One of the new features coming in iOS 14 is the option to customise the CarPlay interface in the vehicle using one of a number of new wallpapers. With iOS 14 or higher, you can now adjust Apples CarPlay wallpaper right on your display. CarPlay wallpapers, just like on the iPhone, come in light mode and dark mode options, which change automatically depending on what settings you apply.

You will now be presented with multiple backgrounds that will change appearances depending on whether CarPlay is in light mode or dark mode. From the Wallpapers, Change settings, you can select from White, Black, and Gray themes for CarPlay. If the Apple CarPlay screens wallpaper is not your thing, you have also got the ability to switch back to a consistent color. You Can Choose Solid Color Wallpaper Fill While Apple has some solid-color backgrounds now and then, you will always need to come up with your own images to use if you want to get a solid-color wallpaper for the Home Screen.

If you set the lock and home screen wallpapers to match, or if you simply want a different background for the home screen, head into Settings->Backgrounds, tap on Customize below Home Screen Image, and select a different option, like Color Shade, Color Gradient, or Photo. When adding a new lock screen wallpaper to your arsenal, either from your Lock screen or through Settings – > Wallpapers – > Add a new wallpaper, you will be asked whether you want to set it to be the Wallpaper Pair, meaning that your home screens wallpaper automatically matches your lock screens. Wallpapers automatically match on lock screen One of the more notable features in iOS 16s update lets you personalize the lock screen to have different backgrounds on it for every occasion. There is Automated Wallpapers Too To have your iPhone change its wallpaper automatically in iOS 15, you will need to configure an automation within Shortcuts App.

This means that you cannot use custom wallpapers, some of which may be colourful and distracting when driving, and instead you are limited to choosing from the selection of similar-designed wallpapers that are available for the iPhone in iOS 14. Apple has taken their built-in iOS 14 wallpapers, which you will find on your iPhone after updating, and made their built-in iOS 14 wallpapers available as backgrounds in CarPlay. You cannot download and use your own wallpapers with CarPlay, but Apple has provided a colourful selection of choices, which can be changed depending on the time of day.

Apparently, there is no way for iPhones to customize their own backgrounds within CarPlay, so for the moment, you are stuck using pre-installed backgrounds provided by Apple. It is possible that, if the feature does make it into public release, we could see a toggle within the CarPlay settings app, allowing us to select if you would like your iPhone wallpaper pulled over. Do not worry, changing your CarPlay wallpaper does not alter the wallpaper of your iPhone. With the option to add, remove, and reorder CarPlay apps through the Settings app on your iPhone, it is not too far-fetched to think you will be able to change your wallpaper as well, but it is not — at least in iOS 14 Beta 5.

Once you have configured the CarPlay wallpaper, if you ever want to change it, just do the same steps again, and choose a new wallpaper at the end. Upgrading your iPhone to iOS 16 will add all three new wallpapers to CarPlay. The options for CarPlay wallpapers expand to three with the launch of iOS 16 this fall. If you are running iOS 15 on an iPhone, you can try the four new wallpapers by going into CarPlay and going to Settings —> Wallpapers.

Is Apple CarPlay a distraction?

Users of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are freed from manual interruptions by these technologies. They lessen visual distractions as well, albeit not entirely.
