Taking a screenshot on an iPad is simple and can be done with a few quick taps. Press the Home button and the Power button simultaneously. You should hear a camera shutter sound, indicating that the screenshot has been taken. The screenshot will be saved in the Photos app, where you can view, edit, or share it as needed.

For iPhone X, 11, 12, and 13 lines, press the Side button on the right side of the screen and Volume Up at the same time to capture the screen. You can also take a screenshot without a home button, for which you must press power and the volume up buttons together. On iPads with no home button, taking a screenshot involves pressing the power button (located in the upper right hand corner of the device) and volume up buttons simultaneously.

In case of the iPad (9th generation) or older models of iPad Pro, users must simultaneously press home and power buttons in order to take a screenshot. The process for taking a screenshot on the iPad varies a bit from model to model, but regardless of the iPad you are rocking, it is a matter of pressing a pair of buttons together. If you are having trouble taking a screenshot with iOS 11s Home and Power buttons, you can try using AssistiveTouch.

If you capture a screenshot on your iPad using the buttons described above, and you do not see the thumbnail immediately, no worries. The process for capturing screenshots has been straightforward, and typically involves pressing just a few buttons. The regular process on Assistive Touch requires tapping on the Assistive Touch repeatedly to reach a screenshot button.

Inside of your accessibility settings is something called Assistive Touch, which makes those gestures easier. For those that do not know, AssistiveTouch is a accessibility feature by Apple that helps users who cannot tap their screens or tap buttons on their devices. It is available on the iPhone, your iPad, and iPod touch, and you can use it for a variety of things, such as volume adjustment, locking, resizing, rebooting your device, and even screenshotting your screen.

AssistiveTouch puts a button on the screen, which you can use to do several things, such as taking a screenshot. This easy tip shows you how to make a software button on the iPhone or iPads screen, which you can use in case your hardware buttons are not working.

If your iPhone or iPads Sleep and/or Home buttons are malfunctioning, you still have a way of taking a screenshot. To take a screenshot silently, simply first switch the iPhone or iPad to silent mode by sliding the button above the volume rocker down. From there, you can use default settings to take the screenshot by tapping on the button, and go to Device > More > Screenshot.

You can edit or share a screenshot using thumbnails that temporarily appear on screen. The screenshot appears temporarily in the bottom-left of the screen, like a thumbnail, after you have taken it.

If you are running iOS 11 or higher, a thumbnail screenshot appears at the lower-left, which you can tap to get into a Markup screen. Instantly, a screenshot is taken, and you see a thumbnail of it appear on the screen, as in the last section. The screenshot is then displayed in the foreground, where you can instantly annotate it using the markup tools in the bottom of the iPad, share it, or save it.

If done successfully, you will see a white flash across your screen, and the iPad will save your screenshot to your Photo Library. The entire screen will blink white (or a lighter grey, if you are in Dark Mode), confirming that you took a screenshot. Your iPhones screen will flash white, and if silent mode is turned off, you will also hear a similar sound as if your camera clicked.

Your iPads screen will then flash briefly, and you will hear a subtle click noise, unless your device is in Silent Mode. After pressing, Your iPads screen will now flash for a second, and you will hear the sound of snapping, which indicates the screenshot was captured successfully. As on iPad models without a Home button, you will see your screen flash white, hear a sound from your cameras shutter, and notice that there is a thumbnail appearing on the bottom-left of your screen.

For any older models that still have a physical home button on the front of the phone (iPhone 8 and older, as well as iPhone SE models), you will tap on the Home button while holding the Side button. The Home button is located just under your iPads display, the only button on the front side of your iPad.

If you are running an older iPad model, or one of Apples latest entry-level iPads, and still have a Home button available, it is used in place of the Volume buttons for screenshot purposes. The top button, on the other hand, is an oval-shaped button on top of the iPads top in the right-hand corner. For the 2020 iPad Pro, hold down the Top button, and then tap the Volume Up button, then let go of both.

Open Settings, and then go to General > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch, then tap the button on top of the screen to enable. Tap Customize Top-Level Menu…> Tap on + button> Find the screenshot and tap it> Tap on Do to add it to AssistiveTouch. AssistiveTouch, part of iOS and the iPad OS Accessibility list, offers a screen menu which allows for the execution of a variety of actions which typically requires button combos, and one such is taking screenshots.
