Iphone 5.5 Inch Display
iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 8 Plus are four different types of iPhones having 5.5-inch size screens. The larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 plus support a full HD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution with 185% more pixels than its predecessor.
The smallest iPhone models are the ones under 5-inches, and it is no longer the size range that Apple frequently goes in, although of course, Apple has launched the iPhone SE (2020), which has a 4.7-inch display. Last year, both Apples flagship devices, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, had screens measuring 4 inches diagonally. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus adhered to Apples familiar “one-big-one-small” design blueprint, and the iPhone X sports the biggest iPhone screen to date, measuring 5.8 inches. The 5.8-inch iPhone 13 mini, the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max all stuck close to sizing conventions established with last years releases, with photo and video dominating the new features.
Apple formally announced two larger phones on Tuesday, the iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display and iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5-inch display, both in gold, silver, and space gray. The two larger new phones are equipped with new software features, notably iOS 8, the latest version of Apples mobile operating system, that will become available starting Sept. 17 on all devices going back to the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 8 family of 2017 marks 10 years since the introduction of the iPhone, and with this announcement, Apple is expected to introduce some major changes to their smartphone line. With news of Apples just-announced all-new Apple iPhone SE, both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus are no longer available from Apples website, a sign that their lifespan is nearing an end.

Well folks, time for the wild-eyed rumors and secret reports is finally over: Apple CEO Tim Cook has just officially revealed a new, chunky iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5-inch screen, along with the long-rumored (and convenient) 4.7-inch model, in Cupertino. Early rumors said that, although there will be three models for iPhone 8, Apple will give the preference to the 5.5-inch option. Apple did not previously offer a lot of different sizes for the iPhone, but there are quite a few now, from less than 4 inches all the way up to nearly 7 inches. Here, you have to take notice, the 6.5-inch and 5.5-inch are the more prominent display sizes on the iPhone, and Apple, as the company, wants you to prioritize those.
It is also worth noting that the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 mini are the only recent iPhones to fall into that size range — every other model has moved up quite a bit, so clearly Apple is focusing on bigger phones. Apples entry-level iPhones over the past two years have been pretty large, too; the iPhone XR has 6.1-inch LCD screen sizes, as did the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13. Just like its Android smartphones, its iPhones have been available in various screen sizes, and display screen sizes have grown larger. Apart from those listed above, the iPhone has devices that are available in a lower resolution like 1,136 x 640 pixels, which was a standard in the past.

Apple did not begin to adopt larger displays until 2014, when it released the iPhone 6. Like the iPhone 3G, it had a 3.5-inch display, but Apple decided to drop aluminum and plastic backs for a polycarbonate one. You will not notice any drastic differences in design between this model and its smaller sibling: It is still dramatically thinner than the iPhones that came before it (the Plus measures in at 7.1mm), and the 5s angular edges have given way to a smoother, rounded appearance in keeping with Apples latest crop of iPads. As the chart above shows, Apples latest iPhone is almost exactly the same size as the iPhone 12 — it is just slightly thicker, though, in order to fit larger batteries.
The biggest iPhone you can buy now is the iPhone 13 Pro Max; it has an OLED 6.7-inch display, the biggest yet fitted into an iPhone, and measures in at 160.8 by 78.1 by 7.4mm, making it the largest iPhone Apple has made so far, in terms of screen size. The iPhone 6 Plus, with its 5.5in screen, is the largest phone Apple has created by far, eclipsing the iPhone 5ss 4in diagonal screen. This chart shows you the screen sizes in browsers of all these phones, to use for CSS writing. For previous iPhones, you could double the screen-size values to find out the maximum size for your retina images, but for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus, you are going to need to triple this value (i.e.
The screenshot dimensions of iPhone 8 at 4.7-inch are 750 x 1334 pixels in portrait mode, and 1334 x 750 pixels in landscape mode. The iPhone 13 Pro Max 6.7-inch screenshot size is 1,284 x 2,778 pixels for portrait orientation and 1,778 x 1,284 pixels for landscape orientation. The iPhone 6 Plus has increased its screen resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels with a resolution of 401 pixels-per-inch (ppi), an increase of 185% over the 326-ppi 1,136-by-640 m found in the iPhone 5S and 5C from last year.

Apple is calling the new screen resolution in its two newest big phones Retina HD, which is an improvement over the original Apple Retina screen introduced in the iPhone 4. Apple introduced a new gesture called Reachability, which is designed to accommodate the increased screen sizes on two new larger phones, as well as iPhone 6 Plus. Apple has touted the gaming experiences offered by iPhone 6 Plus, which features its Retina HD screen, using Metal 3D, a software game-development program that Apple unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
Interestingly, the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 mini are in fact the sharpest among them, since although they have lower-end resolutions, they have pixels packed onto much smaller screens. The smaller size, combined with their LCD usage, means that they are considerably worse at watching content, or even playing games and viewing photos, than some of the larger iPhone models. They are also all using LCD, which is inferior to OLED screens in some of the other iPhones.
While the photos did not give us any breaking info on 5.5-inch models, the photos, at best, did indicate that Apple is already producing components for larger-sized phones, and this means production is probably close.
Is a 4.7-inch screen too small?
Indeed, cell phones should not be larger than 4.5 to 4.7 inches or 4.8 inches at the most, and they should not be used while driving. In many people’s opinions, there is no such thing as a size fits, and everything comes down to personal preference and intended application.
Why is a smaller iPhone better?
Social media addicts or compulsive emailers who prefer to text swiftly or switch between applications with one hand. In comparison to bigger phones, the tiny iPhone is easier to use with one hand. In my experiments, I was able to type the entire alphabet including one hand quicker on a SE than I did with a 6S.
