A Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, or other device that you have previously logged into using two-factor authentication is a trusted device. It’s a device that we can identify as being yours, and it may be used to show an Apple verification code when you sign in on a different device or browser.

Heres how you can delete a specific device you no longer use or trust, right from the list, right from the iOS device or IPAD. You cannot delete a device, in this case, an iPhone, iPod, or iPad, that you are accessing the list from. Once you have removed a device, you cannot use iCloud, Find My, and a few other Apple services on it.

Removing it just removes the Apple ID link to the device in question, and you can add it back to the list later on, if you want. When you log into a new device using your Apple ID, it is added to your list automatically, and stays there until you remove it manually. To add a trusted device to your Apple ID, just sign into your new iPhone, iPad, or Mac using your Apple ID.

For those of you that are unaware, trusted phone numbers are used to confirm your identity when you are trying to log into a new device using an Apple Account, as well as help you reset an account when you forget the password. So, anytime you log in to manage your Apple ID in My Apple ID, log into iCloud, or make a purchase in iTunes, iBooks, or the App Store from a new device, you will have to confirm your identity by entering both your password and the 4 digit confirmation code, like the one shown below. When your device is not connected to the Internet, touch Password & security, then tap Get a Verification Code from the pop-up.

Once it is done, tap Reset network settings in the confirmation popup, and your iPhone should reboot. If you are still seeing a trust warning, go into Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, and reconnect your iPhone. If you are using Apple devices, the company has its Chain of Trust, which allows multiple devices to work together. If you own several Apple devices, and are signed in with an Apple ID on all of them, then the chain of trust that they have created allows you to leverage the various devices for safe actions.
