The iPhone 11 Pro Max is one of the most advanced smartphones on the market, and its water resistance is one of its most impressive features. With an IP68 rating, the iPhone 11 Pro Max can withstand depths of up to 4 meters for up to 30 minutes, making it perfect for water activities.

Apples warranty does not cover water damage, which is why getting a better waterproof case for your iPhone 11 Pro Max is a must-have if you are going to be facing elements during an adventure. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Apple warranty does not cover water or dust damage. The second thing to keep in mind is that Apple does not offer a warranty for water damage.

Do not just treat the phone like water has no impact on it, because water damage still happens, and warranty does not help. That is, a casual spill or dropping in a pool likely will not ruin your iPhone 11, but you are better off treating it gently than testing the limits of its IP68 rating, and trying to avoid ever fully submerging the iPhone under water. The iPhone 11 should do well should you spill some water on it, but IP ratings are not applicable for liquid damage caused by other things, such as soda, beer, milk, or coffee. Because The iPhone 11 has a Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP68, according to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), The iPhone 11 would be damaged by high-pressure water or steam sprays.

According to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the rating of 8 means that the device is protected against submersion into water with depths greater than one metre. When Apple tested both the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max in controlled lab conditions, both devices received IEC ratings of IP68, which is applicable for up to four meters deep for a maximum of 30 minutes. Whereas, the iPhone XR, iPhone 8, and the original iPhone X had an IP67 rating, which is according to the IEC 60529 standard, with a maximum depth of 1 meter, up to 30 minutes. Apple has been making waterproof phones since September 2016, starting with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which received the IP67 rating, meaning that they are protected up to 1 metre deep, for up to 30 minutes.

Although they all carry the same IP68 water-resistance rating, the Pro Edition of the Water-Resistant iPhone 11 is capable of withstanding water damage to greater depths. Despite its IP68 water-resistance rating, Apples claimed that the Pro versions could survive being immersed in 4 metres (about 13 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes, which is twice as deep as the iPhone 11 could survive. According to iPhone 11 waterproofing specs on Apples site, the iPhone 11 can survive being immersed for up to 30 minutes at two metres (about 6.6 feet) deep, while the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max can be immersed for up to 30 minutes at four metres (about 13 feet) deep. The 8 means the iPhone can be completely immersed in water of a depth of a meter or more for up to 30 minutes, with no water damage to the phone.

Now that we know the iPhone 11 is not water-resistant (just water-resistant), it is not surprising Apple is telling people to avoid swimming or bathing with the iPhone. Since an iPhone 11 is not waterproof, Apple does not advise you to swim or bathe with your iPhone 11.

If you do wish to bring your iPhone 11 Series into a beach or swimming pool, that is perfectly OK, but you will want to either use a sealed, water-resistant, soundproofing case, or use an impact-resistant one. The key takeaway here is to remember that water-resistant does not mean waterproof, and this is true for all devices, not just iPhone 11 Series. If we go on to Apples site, they state all the phones in the 11-series are resistant to splashes, water, and dust.

You bought the waterproof case out of concern for the huge bill of water damage…Apple started jumping on the water-resistant bandwagon with the iPhone 7, and some iPhone owners still conflate water-resistant with waterproof. Lifeproof cases are said to be water-resistant, and they could potentially render a water-resistant iPhone 11 untouchable, if youare the type who does not want to take any chances. Apple has been taken to court on these claims on several occasions, with the result being newer iPhones being destroyed or broken if exposed to water, so itas certainly worth being cautious around water with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
