Last Macbook Pro With Upgradeable RAM
Not all models of Macbook come with the upgradeable RAM option, especially the newer ones. The Macbooks from 2008 to 2011 (all models), the thirteen inch Macbook Pro model from 2009 to 2012, and the fifteen and seventeen inch models from 2008 to 2012 had upgradeable RAM option. So the last Macbook Pro with the said feature came in 2012.
The following sections show how you can update RAM in different models of the Mac. If you are buying a new Mac, many models (such as the MacBook Air) are upgradeable at purchase only – upgrading your RAM later will be impossible.

At OWC, for instance, you can choose your Macs model and year, and the site will suggest RAM upgrades that work. Not every RAM type works on every Mac, so it is important that you buy the right part. If you are thinking of buying a new Mac, think about what you are going to be using it for, and you are best off going with as much RAM as you can afford.

Unfortunately, you cannot really upgrade memory on the MacBook Air models. Yes, you can upgrade RAM in all models of the Mac Pro. As documented by the sites sponsor, OWC, no matter what the generation, all the 13-inch, 15-inch, and 16-inch models that feature Touch Bar feature actually come with an SSD soldered into them, making upgrades impossible for all 13-inch models once purchased. Because RAM on all 2019 MacBook Pros is permanently attached to the motherboard, you cannot swap out or add additional RAM. Adding RAM to a Mac Mini is easiest for models 2010 through 2012, as 2014 models have no upgradeable RAM, while 2018 models are harder to mod.
For MacBooks that come with 4GB or 8GB RAM, upgrading to 16GB would offer noticeable improvements: 16GB is ideal for fluid Web surfing, photo editing, and day-to-day software usage. Coupled with checking Mac Storage (including your other Macs storage) and clearing out over-extended files, upgrading RAM will revitalize your Mac — it could even add years to the Macs lifespan. Your Mac slows down when experiencing high memory use, in other words, when the operating app requires more RAM than your Mac can offer.
