The Activation Lock is a feature designed by Apple to increase corporate data security by forcing users to input their Apple passwords when devices like iPhones, iPads, and Macs are factory reset. On devices using Intel chips, Activation Lock is restricted to models that have an Apple T2 Security chip, running macOS Catalina or higher.
