You can ping your misplaced iPad using Find my iPhone app. All you need to do is go to the find my app, go to the device list and tap on the name of your iPad. By doing so, you will be able to see the location of your iPhone. Click on the play sound option and your iPhone will make a sharp sound.

If your iPad is disconnected from the Internet and is in an isolated area, Find My may not be able to locate your iPad. If your iPad is connected to the Internet, or is in the presence of and around other Apple devices, you should be able to see its precise location. Above the map, tap All Devices, and then tap on your iPad to see its location.

If you are on an iPad registered with an Apple ID, for example, you can click Devices to bring up a list of them, as well as the map showing where Apple devices are located. Tap All Devices in the top of the display to see the list of devices registered to your iCloud account, and choose the one you are looking for. Click the Devices tab on Apples Find My App, select your missing device when it appears on a map or list, and choose the About button.

The Find My app is good for more than pinging iPhones; because it tracks the locations of several of your Apple products, it is possible to spot phones on maps, too. Removing the device would also disable the Find My app, meaning the iPad would be completely missing from the map.
