Plans Upgraded Macbook Pros Return Magnetic
Apple plans to upgrade its MacBook Pro line of laptops with a new feature that will return the magnetic connection between the power cord and the computer. The new feature, under the codename “MagSafe 2,” is designed to improve the connection making it more secure and less likely to come loose.
Apple Inc. plans to refresh the MacBook Pro notebooks with significantly faster processors, updated displays and reintroduce magnetic charging, according to a person familiar with the plans. Powered by Apples new M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, the new MacBook Pros are expected to offer the best performance from Macs yet, while also introducing some convenient new design changes and many more ports. Both of these new MacBooks ship with Apples M1 Pro or M1 Max CPUs, built to beat even the insanely fast M1 chips that we got excellent results from in the MacBook Pro and 13-inch MacBook Air from last year.
The new updated MacBook Pros will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, and will feature the new, improved Apple Silicon processors, similar to the ones that Apple debuted in its new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models late last year. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will feature upgraded Apple Silicon chips, either M1X or M2, featuring 10-core CPUs with eight high-performance cores and two power-saving cores, as well as options for either 16-core or 32-core GPUs. In addition to the much faster CPUs, Apple Inc. is planning to boost the displays on upgraded MacBook Pro notebooks, too, with brighter, higher-contrast panels, a person said.

Both will feature the next-generation versions of Apple Incs internal Mac processors, updated with more cores and improved graphics, said the person, who asked not to be identified because products are still unannounced.
