Purchase Sharing

Purchase Sharing

Purchased sharing is quite self explanatory in its purpose or what it actually is. You can purchase something and share it with people. But the catch is that this is for things that only have an online presence. For instance, you can share purchased games, TV shows, apps etc. from google play with five people only.

For those of you that have not tried this out, you can use the function to not only share your purchases, but your payment methods as well as subscriptions.

If you simply want to stop sharing your app purchases with others, but still make use of a shared payment method, you can turn off the toggle for Shared Purchases With Family. If you wish to turn Purchase Sharing off entirely, you can tap on Stop Shared Purchases. Yes – It is possible to stop this from happening by turning off Purchase Sharing, but doing so would also limit most other important benefits to joining the Family Group.

As far as the purchase sharing is concerned, you can purchase any supported app once, and that app is shared with the other members of your family group, without them having to pay out-of-pocket.

Family Sharing works on both iOS devices and Macs, allowing up to six people to share iTunes, Apple Books, and App Store purchases, the Apple Music Family Plan, the Apple News+ subscription, the Fitness+ subscription, the Apple Arcade subscription, the iCloud Storage Plan, as well as shared photo albums, a family calendar, and locations, all without having to share accounts. The feature set of Apples Family Sharing system has evolved a fair amount since Family Sharing debuted back in 2014, but the spirit of sharing purchases, subscriptions, and essential information with others in the household remains a constant. More users are likely to opt into Family Sharing, and while there is no requirement for purchase sharing for these services, they are going to want to share their App Store and iTunes purchases.

Developers have a choice to enable family sharing for app purchases or subscriptions, or they can opt to require each family member to sign up separately or make individual purchases. If you purchase a consumable, such as coins, within the game, you would still be the only person able to use the consumable, but if you unlock the ad-free or Pro version of an app, they may qualify under the new Family Sharing plan.

Once the employee has configured the Shared Purchase Option, this Purchase Option may be shared manually with family members, or a Purchase Option may be created or modified so it is shared with family members automatically when purchased. Single Session Purchase Options for classes can be shared only with the associated customer from the Shopping Cart when purchased.

An additional option that allows members to pay for their purchases themselves, and then decide if they wish to share with others, would have been the ideal solution for ending this. For accounts with more than one adult sharing purchases, it means that members of a family might feel like they need to go through the family sharing organizer each time they make a purchase, which could be frustrating, and occasionally embarrassing, when sharing accounts with more than one adult or family. IDG Apple could have avoided the problem of purchase sharing by adding its services as a separate sharing category, but that is no excuse for not fixing this.
