You can still remote disable Find my iPhone and wipe the phone. If you cannot get to your iPhone or if it is unusable, you can disable Find My iPhone via iCloud. Find my iPhone only works when your smartphone is connected to iCloud, obviously, and logged in with an Apple ID.

Enable the Find My iPhone function on your phone, and connect an active iCloud account to your device in order to get Find My iPhone working. To locate your smartphone using Find my iPhone, you must access your iCloud account using another device. When setting up your smartphone, you will have to navigate to Settings, choose your name, and then navigate to iCloud > Find My iPhone > Send Last Location.

This sends the location data from your smartphone to Apple whenever your battery is at critical levels. Sending Last Location is the best opportunity you have for recovering your device, but will not be helpful if someone moves it to another location, or if Find my iPhone is turned off. Once the Remote Wipe function has deleted data from your missing iPhone, you cannot use Find My iPhone to locate it.
