Vip Mailbox

Vip Mailbox

A VIP mailbox is a feature found in some email clients and services that allows you to designate certain contacts as “VIPs.” When you add a contact to your VIP list, all emails from that contact will be sent to a special VIP mailbox, separate from your regular inbox.

One benefit to Apples native Mail app in iOS 12 is the ability to create a VIP Mailbox, collecting messages from your most important contacts as a way of cutting through the noise.

In macOSs native mail app, you can also view emails in the VIP box, as well as assign the status to new senders. Whether your VIPs are household or business, Mail will then add these emails to the VIPs dedicated folders and search functions. When you add an email address to your VIP senders list, messages from that email are collected into a separate folder.

In your email folders list, click VIP, or select the (i) button if one or more VIP senders are configured. This should then show you all your emails from VIP senders, no matter which inbox box or folder it is in.

To add a sender to the VIP Mail list on your iPhone and iPad, tap the email of that individual or organization. With VIP Mail, you can upgrade the sender to VIP status and get notifications whenever he sends you an email.

You can also configure notifications so you receive notifications about emails from your VIP contacts only. You can configure Apple Mail to only notify you of messages from VIP contacts, minimising interruptions.

To get started, open up Apple Mail and locate a message from one of the contacts you wish to set up as your VIP. Just as in macOS, we start by opening the email message of the sender you wish to designate as the VIP. Note that you can also make a sender a VIP by dragging a message from the sender into a VIP folder in iCloud Mails Sidebar.

While you cannot modify the settings for an integrated VIP inbox, you can create a new Smart Box letter (called, say, VIP) in which the only criteria is the senders VIP, with no messaging tracking limitations.

If it is your first contact with VIP, you will notice a special new VIP mailbox has appeared in the Apple Mail sidebar. By tagging the individual as VIP, emails from the individual will show up in a VIP Mailbox, which appears, separated from your Inbox, below your inbox. Once you have identified a sender as a VIP, any emails from that person will be displayed in a VIP Mailbox, which you can access through your Mailboxes list, or tapping the Email Search Bar.

Everything you need to know about VIP Mailbox.

It is important to note that VIP Inbox looks at only the messages in your Inbox, but does this for all Email accounts that are configured on your Mail app. From the home screen, which has Inbox on top, you will see the Inbox, and underneath it, the VIP, which has a blue star next to it. Make sure that VIP is selected from the Mailboxes and you will see the blue tick beside it, and you should be all set.

Now, under the Mailboxes list on the left (click on the show button if you cannot see a list of Mailboxes), there is a new section with a VIP heading.

If you did not create any VIPs previously, tap on a specific VIP inbox. If you click on the VIP inbox and choose a VIP, then the list of messages only shows messages from that individual. To add any contacts to the VIP inbox, go to each message you received from them within the Mail app.

You can make certain contacts VIPs in the Mail app, which helps distinguish them from other contacts. In Apple Mail, finding e-mail messages from specific contacts can be made easier by giving them the VIP status.

Messages from those same VIPs are also displayed in their own folders, a special VIP Smartbox, which lives on the Apple Mail favorites bar. If you are using Apple Mail on an iPhone or iPad, then those VIP mailboxes appear on those devices, too, just like they do on the Mac. The list of Mailboxes will include standard folders such as Sent, Drafts, VIP, or Flags, as well as any custom folders that you create.

Mail VIP lists did not show messages from all inboxes When I was setting this up for the first time, I recall having an option that showed messages in all inboxes — really handy feature, VIP. I tried selecting Mailbox>Rebuild, having pored over VIP folders on my iCloud email account. I then removed the VIP status from that single e-mail, and all the other inbox emails went back into the VIPs inbox.

I have to admit this solution is not really a solution as you will need to repeat this every now and again, and will see all your VIP contacts emails, and not just those from your inbox.

If you had hundreds of messages across all of your inboxes, but only wanted to see mails from your mother, boss, and significant other, you just had to tag your mother as VIP, and in seconds, your iPhone or iPad will bring up just their messages. The grey text indicates you do not have an email address for this person (or that the person is already marked VIP).

Since it takes such a long time for 250-person email boxes to be moved, you are better off marking a box as VIP, so that you will be starting it early in your migration timeframe. When the mailbox is marked VIP, it is placed in the front of the migration queue, which will make sure the item is moved ahead of the other, non-VIP, mailboxes. A 3-line horizontal icon will be displayed beside each mailbox, so hold down on the icon appearing beside the VIP icon to the right, drag and drop to the location that you would like, and tap Done.

The Mail app on the iPhone and iPad allows adding more accounts from various email service providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc. In addition to this, a unique feature the Mail app offers is the option of managing VIP lists.
