You can enable Do Not Disturb manually on iPhone anytime by going to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb and moving the toggle next to Do Not Disturb to On position. Then, swipe down and select the Do Not Disturb option, then toggle off the toggle next to it. You can toggle it manually, schedule it, and even set exceptions for specific people and apps. You can use Do Not Disturb manually, or schedule it to turn on automatically at specific times throughout the day.

You can also set a custom schedule for your iPhone to turn Do Not Disturb on automatically. If you set up a scheduled Do Not Disturb mode, your iPhone will automatically enable the mode at a specified time. Choose from always (your phone will be quiet all the time while Do Not Disturb Mode is in place) and while iPhone is locked (it will still be loud when your phone is turned on and is being used). You can also select if Do Not Disturb should silence calls and notifications only while the iPhone is locked, or all the time, and there are options to choose if calls from specific people should bypass your Do Not Disturb settings.

You can use Do Not Disturb on iPhone whenever you want to prevent any calls, texts, or other notifications from making your phone ring. You can tell the Do Not Disturb function to stop any calls or notifications making any noise while your phone is locked, or even when you pick it up to check the time in the middle of the night. When Do Not Disturb is turned on, a lock screen displays a message to inform you that it is keeping your iPhone quiet (and dark). When Do Not Disturb is turned on, iOS 12 displays a notification on the Lock screen telling you when it is going to shut down.

If you wake up early and want to let notifications go through again, tap on the Do Not Disturb notification on the Lock screen to disable it. When enabled for the times that you set Do Not Disturb, it will dim and black out your Lock screen, silence calls, and send any notifications to the Notification Center rather than showing them on your Lock screen. Do not Disturb is now enabled – and you will not get any notifications bothering you – until you go back to Control Center and tap on the icon to disable. To turn off Do Not Disturb anytime, just tap the focus button again.
