Thus, accessing it through a different pathway isn\u2019t also possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article explains how to solve various problems with files not opening on a Mac. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/macpaw.com\/how-to\/google-drive-not-working-mac\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/macpaw.com\/how-to\/google-drive-not-working-mac\" target=\"_blank\">Google Drive<\/a> for Desktop app is not opened on your Mac, so a folder can not create a connection with Google servers. If you have not worked with Google Drive before, opening Google Drive can be a bit confusing at first because double-clicking Google Drive icon in the Application folder or clicking Google Drive icon in the Dock will open Google Drive, but will not automatically show you the Google Drive interface on your screen. From there, you can click the Settings menu, go to Preferences, and make changes to the way Google Drive functions on your Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background:linear-gradient(135deg,rgb(6,147,227) 0%,rgb(155,81,224) 76%)\"><thead><tr><th>Possible Causes<\/th><th>Solutions<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Item has been moved or deleted<\/td><td>Try searching for the file in Spotlight or using the &#8216;Find&#8217; feature in Finder. If you find the file, move it back to its original location or create a new alias for the file. If you cannot find the file, it may have been permanently deleted.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The external hard drive or network drive has been disconnected<\/td><td>Reconnect the external hard drive or network drive and try opening the file again. Alternatively, try using a file repair tool to fix the corrupt file.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Can\u2019t be opened because the original item can\u2019t be found.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br> To open the Applications folder, click on the Dashboard to the right of your Mac\u2019s desktop. Once there, you can drag the Applications folder icon onto your dock at the bottom right corner of your screen. To plug in whatever external drive you need, simply drag its files into the Finder and it should show up as an icon on your dock. If not, try restarting your Mac and repeating this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this still doesn&#8217;t work, it&#8217;s time to plug your external drive into your Mac. If you don&#8217;t already have an external drive, you can buy one at your nearest hardware store. Once the drive is plugged in and the files are transferred from the desktop to the external drive, an icon should appear on your desktop. However, if it does not appear and gives an error saying that the item can&#8217;t be opened because the original item can&#8217;t be found, there could be many factors at play. Some of these include size of ports, size of files being transferred, and free space on both drives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Syncing Google Drive files is a great way to back up Mac files. It creates a Google Drive app that can be used on both Mac and Windows computers. This app stores data on the Google servers, and allows users to access their files from any internet connected device. The desktop app also makes it easy to finder Mac and PC files, photos, and even offline files. This could be because of a problem with your computer or an issue with Google Drive itself. If this happens to you, one way to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/drive\/answer\/2456903?hl=en\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/drive\/answer\/2456903?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fix <\/a>it is by clicking on the Settings menu in your browser. You can then look for the File Downloads option and select &#8220;Allow Access to Files On Your Screen&#8221;. This should enable you to access all of your files stored in your Google Drive account. If this fix doesn&#8217;t work, there are other methods that may help you get back into your account. Check if there&#8217;s an application folder in the Finder of your Mac and look for a file with a .dmg file extension. If you find it, open it and make changes as needed. This should allow you to access all of the functions in Google Drive again. Once you&#8217;ve made changes, close the menu and try clicking on the icon again &#8211; this should bring up the Google Drive interface on your screen so that you can get back into using all of its great features!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re still unable to access your files, select the Application Support folder and try clicking on the eye button. This will open up a list of all your files, including the ones you were looking for. If they are not there, try hovering your mouse pointer over the Dropbox app icon to open a drop down menu with additional options. Next, click on &#8216;Preferences&#8217; and find the setting for &#8216;File Download Location&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will show the entire downloads folder. If you can&#8217;t find the original item, you can use a Spotlight search. Go to &#8216;My Disk&#8217; and type in the name of the file or used song. This will bring up any files associated with that item. If you find the original file, then you can play the song by double-clicking on it. If not, try looking in your iTunes media folder location to see if it is there instead. If still no match can be found, then you may need to solve this problem by visiting Finder and using an exclamation point message to alert other users of your dilemma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is possible to use the Finder to locate your downloaded files, but if you have changed the default location of your music, photos and documents, then this may not work. This is especially true for Mac users who have multiple situations set up and need to go through all of their documents. An article explains that in some cases, users can resolve this problem by using the search bar at the top of their screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, they can type in the file name and press enter. If the original item can\u2019t be found, then it is likely that either you have misplaced your files or deleted them. Additionally, if you have emptied your entire downloads folder, this may also be preventing you from opening the file. In order to ensure that all of your files are present and accounted for, check both your files folder and your disk for any missing or deleted items. When your hard drive is full, you won\u2019t be able to access certain applications or open certain files. Running your system on <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1709.02753\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1709.02753\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">macOS <\/a>Monterey can help to alleviate this issue, as it allows you to see how much free disk space you have and can provide an easy solution for a problem that seems complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find that your computer is running slower than usual, or if you are experiencing an issue with your locked drive, it is likely that an application was opened and left open without being closed properly. This can cause a massive memory usage issue, resulting in the user&#8217;s computer to completely lock up and quit the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you encounter the error message &#8216;Can&#8217;t be opened because the original item can&#8217;t be found&#8217; when attempting to open a window, it is likely due to a documents folder error. To work around this issue, your browser can be used to open documents and folders in addition to using system notifications. When attempting to open a folder that has an error microphone or scanned on30\/01\/12 printer, it is best to check ignore permissions and take a quick glance at the scanned items for any bootable drives that may need changing.
