Apple Carplay Not Working
If apple CarPlay is not working, you should restart your iPhone and car. Make sure that you have turned Siri on. Regardless of whether it is the problem of missing audio, no connectivity, and apps that do not sync, there are some handy ways to help solve Apple CarPlay issues that are not working as expected. If you are having trouble getting CarPlay working with iPhone in the car, or CarPlay is not working correctly, here are all the solutions for fixing those issues.
If Apple CarPlay is not working, rebooting the iPhone and the infotainment system, trying a new USB cable, and making sure that Siri and CarPlay are both enabled is more likely to make it work. If CarPlay is not working in your vehicle, make sure it is enabled correctly in your iPhones Settings app, as well as Siri. Go into your iPhones Settings and check that your iPhone is not automatically muted when connected to Apple CarPlay for your BMW.
If in either scenario, you are perfectly able to hear the audio, then it could turn out that while entering carplay, your iPhone is muted either for a specific app or for your whole phone.
If the issue turns out to be with wireless connectivity, re-run your iPhone recovery process and your BMWs Apple CarPlay pairing procedure, because you might need to restore the Bluetooth connectivity.
Once both your phone and car are rebooted, reconnect to Apple CarPlay and check whether Apple CarPlay is working now. Once you have completed the steps described above, reboot your iPhone, reboot your car, and reconnect to either Wired or Wireless CarPlay. Now that you have made sure that all of the more basic settings are configured correctly, if CarPlay is still not working correctly, try rebooting your iPhone.
Multiple settings can impede your CarPlay connection, so enable it again. If you turned the CarPlay option off in Settings, you will need to turn it back on.
To fix that, head into Settings > General > CarPlay, and tap on your vehicle in the list of available connections. You can fix the issue with CarPlay not working by going to Settings > General > CarPlay, selecting your car from the list of connections, and tapping Allow CarPlay when locked.
You will have to go into Settings > General > CarPlay and select your vehicle. Simply open up the Settings app for your iPhone, go to General > CarPlay > Tap your vehicles identifier > Forget about this vehicle.
If your vehicle supports a wireless connection with Apple CarPlay, make sure you are not in Airplane mode with your iPhone. Also, check to see if you have turned on Airplane Mode, which blocks your iPhone from making any wireless connections. If the switch is green, just tap on it once to disable Airplane Mode, so that you can make a wireless connection with your car.
You can forget about this by going into Settings, Bluetooth, then tapping i next to the device you wish to detach. Pair Your iPhone With the Car Again When this workaround does not work, try unpairing the iPhone from the car, then pairing your iPhone back in.
Depending on your car, you may be able to plug an iPhone into Apple CarPlay using a USB cable, or you may be able to Bluetooth-pairing an iPhone with the car, as long as the car supports wireless connectivity. In addition to the steps mentioned above, you will more often than not see an Apple CarPlay button in the cars home screen whenever you plug the iPhone into the cars USB port.

If you are connecting with a cable, just connect the phone to the connection through the USB port of the car. All you need to do is connect your Lightning cable to your iPhone, and the other end of it to your cars USB port. If that does not work, you may want to also try connecting your USB cable to a different USB port, as not every USB port in the car supports CarPlay connectivity features.

Perhaps you are in Retry Mode, in which you continually attempt to reconnect to CarPlay.
