Iphone Driving Mode

Driving mode helps you stay focused on driving and reduce distractions while behind the wheel. When driving mode is enabled, it silences incoming calls and notifications, and can also be set up to automatically reply to text messages. Once enabled, you can customize your driving mode settings to suit your needs. 

If you are a passenger in the car and Do Not Disturb While Driving is automatically enabled, you can touch the screen and select the I am Not Driving option to use the iPhone. From your home screen, open the Control Center and tap on the Car icon to toggle Do Not Disturb While Driving off or on. Tap on the green “Plus” sign for Do Not Disturb While Driving, which adds it to the list in the Control Center at the top of the iPhone (tap on the red “minus” sign to remove it).

Open Control Center Tap on Focus Click on Drive for additional settings, click the “More” option (…) next to the Drive option, this brings up the Settings tab, click “Settings” to bring up all settings for Do Not Disturb While Driving. Scroll to the bottom of the limits settings screen, click on Do Not Disturb While Driving over Game Center, and click Allow changes.

If you are a parent and you wish to make sure that your children cannot turn off this mode, you can set Content and privacy restrictions > Do Not Disturb While Driving with Settings > Passcode Disallow. You can choose to enable Focus Mode automatically when driving, just when connected to the cars Bluetooth, or manually. You can choose to have Safe Driving mode activated by movement, connectivity with your cars Bluetooth, or connectivity with Apple CarPlay.

The When connected to your cars Bluetooth option turns off auto drive sensing, which is a good option if you are driving nearly all of the time you are in the car that you are pairing the iPhone to. You can also configure Drive Mode to send a robotic response to contacts, telling them that you are driving and cannot answer right now. You can also set up the iPhone to send your favorite contacts an automated response telling them you are driving and will get back to them once you get there.

Depending on the reasons, you may want to send a text with auto replies when driving, using this feature, your iPhone user can send messages to several types of contact groups such as Recent, Favorites, and All contacts. You can also customize the message to let people know you are driving, or you are going to make a phone call at a later time, e.g. Notably, you can choose the specific person or group this message goes to. Not only does the mode restrict and silence notifications, it replies to contacts that message you when you are driving, giving them an early indication you are out and about.

Once you enable the feature, your iPhone is aware of when you might be driving, and will automatically silence notifications to keep the screen dim. Like Drive Focus Mode in Apple, this app can also be switched to auto-enable whenever a car is driving over 15 miles per hour. With this mode turned on, the iPhone can detect when you are in a moving car and interrupt any notifications that are on the way.

Drive mode is a convenient feature of the iPhone, which silences notifications so that you can concentrate on driving. When driving mode is turned on, you will see a Car icon appear in the status bar on top of the screen on your iPhone. If someone attempts to send you text messages, those texts are blocked, that person gets a text saying that you are driving, Do Not Disturb While Driving is turned on, and when you arrive at the place where you are going, you will see a text. If you are not driving, or you are expecting a major call or text, it is best to disable Drive Mode to avoid missing any important notifications. That way, you will need to disable it by tapping your notifications, and then tapping I am Not Driving.

If you decide to toggle this setting manually, you just need to open Settings, tap on Focus, and toggle Drive On or Off, as needed. Toggle the toggle green next to “Activate With CarPlay,” meaning that the phones driving mode will be activated automatically when connected to CarPlay.
