While all Mac Pros are upgradable, you will have to search your Mac devices model and year to find out whether or not you can add RAM to your MacBook Pro. All Mac Pro computers feature user-upgradeable memory, meaning that you can upgrade the RAM in any Mac Pro model. If you are able to upgrade the RAM in your Mac, this is typically done by taking off the case and replacing your old RAM modules with the new ones.

If you are buying a new Mac, many models (like a MacBook Air) are upgradeable at purchase only: upgrading RAM in the house afterward is not an option.
