How To Remove Meta Data From Photos
Most photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP, have an option to remove metadata from an image file. You can either remove all metadata or choose to remove specific metadata fields. There are several online tools available that allow you to remove metadata from photos.
For finer-grained control over viewing and removing EXIF data on photos from your iPhone and iPad, you will want to download a free app like Metadata Remover or Photo Investigator (both available free of charge via an in-app purchase). If you need a foolproof method, you can use a third-party app called FileMind QuickFix, which strips the EXIF data out of photos with one tap.
Then, you can tap Create Copy With All Possible Properties Removed to get a copy of your photos with EXIF data stripped. When the folder is open, right-click the photo that you want EXIF data stripped from, and choose Properties. Once the folder is selected, the Photo Metadata Remover will delete any EXIF data and save the photo in your selected folder.

Windows will now ask if you would like to create a copy of the photo with the deleted EXIF metadata, or you would like the information removed from the original. To see Exif data of the picture, open the Exif metadata app, and Exif metadata will request permission to access your photos. Once this photo is opened within the app, you can tap on the I icon on the lower panel to see its Exif data, or tap on the gear icon to remove all metadata from the photo.
Once they are installed on the computer, right-click any picture and a pop-up box with Exif data (if it is available) appears. Every file has embedded EXIF data, or metadata, which contains info about your cameras make and model, the time and date you took the picture, and even GPS coordinates, if you happened to be taking a picture with a camera (or, more likely, phone) with geotagging enabled.

When you snap a photo, most digital devices will retain at least some metadata, known as EXIF data, associated with that picture. Technically, every time you take a picture with any digital device, whether your phone or a camera, the metadata is stored inside of that picture, too.
This information has the potential to have negative effects on your privacy, as every time you share a picture, or upload it online — your sensitive metadata is exposed as well. You will have to remove the information listed below details from your photo if you wish to upload it or share it without harming your privacy. While it is not harmful to have additional information embedded in your photos, so long as those photos are stored on a personal device, there are times you might want to remove data, like when you are sharing these photos online.
Geolocation data remains with the original images in your iPhones Photo Library, and you will need to turn this off every time you want to share the photo. The camera app will be unable to make use of your location data, and your photos will therefore not have any geodata embedded into them on your iPhone or iPad.
Note that you can only delete location info if you are sharing straight from within the Photos app, so you should start from that point if you want to make sure that your location information is being removed correctly. You can delete built-in location data on the Preview, but will need a separate app to delete the other data. You can delete the location data from the photo by clicking the picture on the top panel, and then clicking “Location” > “Hide location”.
You can remove the location from photos, videos, or from multiple images and movies that you wish to send through Mail, Messages, Facebook, Twitter, Messenger, or any other application. You can remove location data, share a photo or photos as often as you like, without worrying about revealing personal location information, then revert back to your original location info once you are done. The primary benefit to removing the location this way is that you do not need to worry about accidentally exposing your location while sharing those photos, since Unmodified original will be used when selecting photos from your Photo Library for sharing or posting on social media.
When you share a photo, no viewer will have any way to decipher where it was taken, as well as any other metadata. Some image sharing services and messenger apps strip out metadata when you post the photo, but this is not always the case.
As is the case on iOS, the only way to remove metadata from an image on an Android device is through an app. If you would like to remove other metadata associated with your photos on your Mac, you will have to use a third-party tool like ImageOptim. To remove the remaining metadata, much of which is located under the Exif tab in the Info tabs menu above, you will need to download a separate program like EXIFPurge or ImageOptim.
Here, you can click individual details to modify them, or use the Exif icon at the top right corner to delete the individual metadata. At the bottom of the Details tab, tap on Remove properties and personal information, which removes the metadata for all selected files — no one file. To remove the Location data, open an image in Preview, choose Tools > Show Inspector, and click the Info(i) tab.
Create is best if you still want to have metadata access, but if you prefer to keep no image files, you can configure that in your apps settings. This information is added in with additional details when an image file is shared and changes are made.
If you need to change just location, time, and date, you can do so easily using the built-in Photos app. When adding, editing, or deleting data, each time, you will be asked whether or not you would like to delete the original photo.
