Macbook Login Screen Background

The login section or page or window in a Macbook has its own background by default. It isnt anything fancy or out of the box (as most PCs have it) but you can alter it to your liking if you want. Just go to Display & Screensaver in system preferences, and select what you like.

If you want a more complicated way, however, you can swap out login screens and choose a specific image for each one. With both methods, though, you have the ability to customize your Mac’s appearance with whatever image or pictures you’d like as your background wallpaper!

When you get your brand new Mac and reach the login screen, you can take the opportunity to start personalizing your desktop. To change the new Mac login wallpaper, simply go to System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop. From there, you can select an image from Apple’s included library or choose one of your own photos. You can also set a different image for your lock screen if desired.

To change your Macs login background, first find an image you’d like to use as a wallpaper. Then, make sure it’s in the right folder and the size is in the right format and size for your background image. Once you’ve found an image, you can adjust its size to fit your screen. You can also select a different format if needed, such as JPG or PNG. Finally, drag the image into the right folder and set it as your login background.

Macbook login screen background can be easily changed by replacing the lockscreen.png file in the desktop pictures folder. First, open System Preferences from the Apple menu, then select Desktop & Screen Saver from the System Settings window. To choose a new picture for your login window, click on the Enable list and scroll through your available photos and lastly add a folder to select from using the Plus sign at the bottom of the list. To change the lock icon, click on the lock icon at the bottom left corner of your Macbook login screen. Then, click on the ‘Turn Screen Lock On’ button and enter your password to require password confirmation when unlocking your Macbook. When you’re done, click ‘Lock’ and your Macbook will be locked. To make further changes to this lock icon, go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences > User Accounts > General tab. Here you can choose a different image or color for your lock icon by clicking in the box labeled Lock Icon.

Select a picture that is meaningful to you. Click the User Icon to start the login process. Once the lock screen page has loaded, enter your password and click the unlock button. Once you have accessed your account, you can change your profile picture. To do this, click on the user icon in the top right corner of your desktop. Then click on ‘System Preferences’, then ‘Users & Groups’ and then select ‘Change Profile Picture’. Choose an image from Apple’s menu or set your own computer wallpaper as your profile image and click save. You can also make changes to other settings within this menu such as setting a password for user accounts or changing default groups for different user accounts. Finally, from the Apple Menu, go to ‘System Preferences’ > ‘Security & Privacy’ > ‘Privacy’ and select ‘Camera’.

Now go to the ‘Desktop & Screen Saver’ tab. From here, you can choose to have your desktop pictures from your Mac folder, or find wallpaper from the internet. To do this, click on the ‘Downloads’ tab and browse through the library of pre-loaded wallpapers. Select a wallpaper and click on the photo you want to set as your desktop background. Alternatively, you can paste an image into the pane and right-click on it to set it as your desktop photo. Once you are happy with your selection, click ‘Set Desktop Picture’ for it to take effect!

You may have noticed that your login screen background has changed. This is because you have cached a folder with an image of your choosing to change your lock screen. To do this, open the ‘Finder’ window and type in ‘~/Library/Caches/Caches’ in the folder type bar and click ‘Go’. Here you can find the image you chose for your new lock screen, so right-click it and select ‘Rename’, then enter a new filename so Finder can easily find it. Then go to the Library window in Finder, then select ‘Pictures’ and look for the renamed file – this will be your machine’s login screen background!

To gain similar customization to your Mac’s login window, you can replace four separate files with a single file by restarting your computer and having it boot the new image the next time you use Fast User Switching. Replacing a single file instead of four allows you to quickly change your Mac’s login window image. The first image you see on the login window is the one that was replaced by OS X when you restarted your computer. Once you have located and renamed the file, simply logins to see the new image!

Your Mac’s login screen will now have a custom login screen picture, and you can easily change the login screen picture to create new images or make duplicates of the same image if you have multiple users. You can also set lock screen pictures and desktop pictures for each user on your Mac. Other restricted users, such as guests, may not be able to view your custom image unless they are given permission. When you’re finished creating new images or making duplicates, simply apply the settings to see the background wallpaper appear on your Mac’s login page.
