While there is no way to share Apple Books without Family Sharing, you can still share the link and have someone buy it themselves. You cannot give away your Apple Books purchases at the charity shop like you would with paperback books, but that does not mean just one person gets to read them. In addition to purchases made within an app, Apple notes you cannot share songs that you add to iTunes Match from sources other than the iTunes Store.

For instance, you can share your books with up to five people for free, and you have access to books that they have purchased. For example, if you sign up for Apple Arcade, anyone else in your Family Sharing group also gets access to Apple Arcade games, without having to sign up for their own subscription.

Your friends can get access to the same account to enjoy reading an ebook that you want to share with them, and it is pretty simple to manage. Once you have signed into iBooks using the account of your friends, you have to tap on a button that says Redownload next to the books you want to share with your friends on this account.
