If you have an Apple ID, you can check your Apple account balance online. To do so, sign in to your account and click on the “Account” tab. From there, you will be able to see your current balance and transactions. If you have any questions you can always contact Apple support for help.

The Apple Card is a rebranded version of the iTunes Pass, a card accessible through the Wallet app which allows users to spend the balance on an iTunes account without having to log in. After setting up an Apple Card in the Wallet app, users could see the balance of their Apple ID account and use it for purchases. You can pay for purchases, both online and offline, using an Apple Card, which you can use on an iPhone or iPad or another Apple device.

The iTunes Gift Card balance associated with your Apple ID may show up when redeeming a Gift Card, and it can be used to purchase items you make via the iTunes Store. When you redeem a gift card, the entire value of the card is added to your Apple ID as credit, and you can check your iTunes gift card balance at any time after you have redeemed it, provided that it has not been used completely.

Your Apple ID balance also includes the value of any Apple Gift Card or App Store and iTunes Store Gift Card you redeem. You cannot redeem your Apple Gift Card balance in cash, except at the App Store, unless legally permitted by shipping outside of iTunes or to an Apple Retailer. You cannot redeem Apple ID balances into cash or have them returned to your bank account (except in regions required by law).

If you are having trouble adding funds to your Apple ID balance, please ensure that there is enough money available in your bank account, on the card, or on your added payment method through which you are trying to add funds to your Apple ID balance. If your account has no available credit, you will not see any balances or amounts below your Apple ID. If you do not have any Apple ID balance, you cannot use the Apple ID balance to pay for items, or there is not enough money available to cover the total amount; Apple charges the main payment method you have on file (typically credit or debit cards, but this will vary from country to country).

You can use an Apple Cash Card, an Apple Card, and any other credit or debit cards you have added to your wallet to make safe, contactless purchases using the Apple Pay app. Apple Card payments are an easy way to pay for purchases, and they are safer than using your credit or debit card. Apple appears to have recently updated its wallet app to let users add Apple Account Card, which displays Apple Credit balances associated with Apple ID. Now called Apple Account Card, the older offering of the iTunes Pass lets you check the balance of your Apple ID from within the Wallet app in an instant.

Previously, a “”old iTunes Pass” offer would create a QR code that could be used to purchase at Apple retail stores. When you went to an Apple Store, the iTunes Pass could be used only to refill your iTunes balance — it was not for buying things at Apple Stores. You could use it to purchase products, accessories, apps, games, and more from Apple, whether it was online or at Apple retail stores.

Part of Apples gift card rollout includes turning your existing iTunes and App Store balance into a new Apple Account balance, which you can use to purchase things online at Apple Store as well (in addition to regular App Store and iTunes purchases, but also memberships, in-app purchases, and whatnot). Your Apple ID now has the ability to hold credits in your account, which you will then be able to spend them on App purchases or subscriptions. You can use Apple ID balances to do just about anything, such as buying apps, subscriptions, iCloud storage, movies and media from the iTunes store, and much more.

If you are added to Family Sharing and also have some Apple ID balance, then your Apple ID balance will be used when buying apps, subscriptions, in-app purchases, etc. If your Apple ID balance cannot cover the total price, then the remaining amount will be charged to Family Sharing Organizer.

The clear answer is yes, if you have iTunes credits, Apple will use them to cover your monthly charges. There does not seem to be a way to stop Apple from hitting your iTunes account balance as its first payment option, so you cannot make Apple always charge your credit card instead. The only thing you will need is an app called the App Store or iTunes, and an Apple ID that you would like to check your balance for, and because the App Store is included in every single Apple device, you should be able to do so pretty much everywhere.

If you are using Check to check the balance for another Apple ID or associated account, or checking your iTunes/App Store balance on someone elses computer or iPhone, remember to sign out once you are done. Head to the Apple system status page, and check that the iTunes Store, your Apple ID, your iCloud account & sign in, and Mac App Store all have green dots.

Obviously, being able to check and add to balances directly via Apples Web site would be hugely helpful for managing groups of IDs, but for now, you can count on the excellent Allowances function in iTunes Store to distribute monthly credits across individual Apple IDs. If your jurisdiction allows for the return of gift balances that have been redeemed, you can reach out to Apple support to have it returned to you.
