Make sure to plug the 4K Apple TV directly into an HDMI input on the soundbar or Av Receiver. Connect your soundbar or Av Receiver using the HDMI Cable. If possible, you should use the other HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 port on your TV to connect the Apple TV 4K box. This cross-functionality makes the Apple HomePod Mini an excellent substitute for a soundbar. Unfortunately, you will not get a lot of the features of a new HomePod Mini like soundbars, unless it is paired to your Apple TV. While you can connect a few older HomePods as soundbars, the experience is a little buggy.

The Apple TV is not a speaker, so it is never going to have the best sound quality, which is fine with high-quality content you might want to put on your Apple TV, such as 4K, HDR. The earlier Apple TVs supported both Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos sound (more on those below), so we would expect to see Apples speaker pack in both technologies.

As far as immersive, object-based, 3D sound, Apples current TV set-top 4K already supports Dolby Atmos, so it seems possible an Apple soundbar would boast upward-firing drivers, and therefore be Dolby Atmos. If you own Apple TV soundbars that feature Dolby Atmos, that means that you will enjoy better audio and performance with stronger Internet connectivity.
